Barricades printed with the phrase “Safety First” were recreated and arranged vertically to form a folding screen, functioning as a shield, backdrop, and decoration. Originally intended to protect civilians, such structures have also been used to justify national security policies. In this new form, the phrase becomes decorative and hollow, echoing the gap between its intended meaning and how it has been used.

원래는 시민을 보호하기 위한 구조물이지만, 성난 군중을 차단하기 위해 청와대를 둘러쌌던 ‘안전제일’ 휀스에 대한 보도를 바탕으로, 병풍처럼 세워지는 새로운 형태의 휀스를 제작했다. 방패이자 배경, 장식처럼 기능하는 이 구조물을 통해 “안전”이라는 말이 어떻게 통제와 억압의 수단으로 쓰여왔는지를 조용히 드러내고자 했다.
